PowerPC Processor Technology

PowerPC Experience

X-ES has a firm commitment to remaining at the forefront of leading edge technologies. X-ES has developed numerous PowerPC designs. X-ES has developed products based on the IBM 750FX and 750GX, the Applied Micro 440GX, and developed the industry's first PA Semi SBC.  X-ES has developed many products based on Freescale processors, including the MPC7447, MPC7447A, MPC7448, MPC8640D, MPC8641D, the PowerQUICC MPC8250, MPC8270, MPC8540, MPC8548E, and MPC8572E processors, and the QorIQ P2020. Continuing in this tradition, X-ES has embraced the next generation of Freescale® QorIQ processors, the QorIQ P4080 processor.

Freescale P4080

The P4080 combines eight Power Architecture™ e500mc cores at under 30 watts. The processor supports two 64-bit DDR2/DDR3 SDRAM memory controllers with ECC and interleaving support, two 10 GBps Ethernet (XAUI) controllers, eight 1 GBps Ethernet (SGMII) controllers, three PCI Express v2.0 controllers/ports running at up to 5GHz, and two Serial RapidIO® 1.2 controllers/ports running at up to 3.125 GHz. It also supports two USB controllers, an SD/MMC, an SPI controller, four I2C controllers, two dual UARTs (DUART), an enhanced local bus controller (eLBC), a multicore programmable interrupt controller (PIC), and two 4-channel DMA engines.
